Government intranet site
I worked with a government agency who had an internal website landing page that served as a tool for other divisions and departments. It was antiquated and inefficient having been built in Cold Fusion by a developer who had worked with a librarian to set it up.
I had been working with the Internal Communications Team to make sure their content was being posted to the site in a timely manner and started to discuss the need for a more user-friendly solution. My prior role had been working as an ACD that specialized in both copy and content design. |
The Internal Communications Director was already thinking about updating the site, but didn't know which direction to go. I recommended several agencies that I knew did this type of work.
Ultimately the organization chose to work with Gerry McGovern. Gerry had written a book about website usability called Customer Carewords. His approach was understanding the top tasks your customer (in this case employees) needed to do on a site and then design the site around those tasks using a customer centric index. You surveyed your customers and figured out how to best serve them. The result was ultimate a high-functioning intranet that lowered time spent on the site and increased employee productivity.

Winsupply: UX/UI Writing
While I was contracting with WinSupply, I was asked to assist with user language for both the site and emails (email sample provided to the left; Help Text below). The goal was to streamline the user experience for the site as they were building it.
This was in addition to the content that was being written for the products they carry on the new website. Since I had already done significant UX/UI work, this was relatively simple. |
cintas: cintas cares (ux/ia)
While I was working as the Associate Creative Director for BRC Marketing, Cintas came to us with a dilemma. People didn't now about the depth of philanthropic work that the employees of Cintas took part of every day. It had gotten buried on their website.
We suggested a microsite dedicated to their efforts and I worked with the designer to create a fully-immersive experience with clear navigation and a simple structure. This site has been replaced with a Community Impact section on their site, but the nuts and bolts (as well as the feeling we were able to evoke) has remained. |
