Transcending Illusion

We are so caught up
In the next fix
Instant gratification
Draining our life force

An insatiable thirst
For the next big thing
Completely distracts us
From what matters most

Those people
Who make our hearts smile
Our spirit knows
What we have forgotten

Presence comes in our acknowledgment
Of the now
Time although illusory
Moves invisibly forward

Perception
A choice

Choose to be
mindful and purposeful
Where you are

And the direction
You move
